How to Choose Chrysler Radiators

Are you working on a new project?  Or looking to replace the old and worn out radiator on your Chrysler? Choosing the right radiator can save you costly repairs caused by overheating and other challenges in your engine.

Chrysler radiators come in many different makes and designs. To help you make the right choice, here are a few factors worth considering.

Construction

Most car radiators are usually made of aluminum. It is the best material for radiators because of its ability to dissipate heat, and it is lightweight. However, you can still find radiators made from copper and brass in the market. If the price is not a concern, the best option is the aluminum radiators.

Aluminum radiators last longer and are not prone to rust or corrosion like other metals.

Tubing

The size of tubing differs depending on the specifications of your engine. But, it is easy to check. When buying radiators, the tubes should be sturdy and wide with a high-volume capacity. This helps to maximize the surface area for faster cooling.

You should also check the thickness of the tubes. The tubes should not be too thick as it reduces the efficiency of the radiator and volume of coolant supplied to the engine parts.

Radiator fans

The type of radiator fan depends on the design of the engine. Some Chrysler radiators are electrical, and on other versions they’re mechanical. If you have to make a choice, electrical fans are better.

Mechanical fans can take up to 20 Horsepower from the engine to function and are not as efficient. On the other hand, electrical ones are more energy efficient and are more preferred.

Coolant Restriction

You might need a trained eye for this. Some radiator designs have flaws either in the radiator or tubing that restricts the flow of the coolant.

It is advisable to check for any such defects before you purchase the radiator. If the coolant is not cooled properly within the short amount of time, it can lead to overheating and engine failure.  The coolant needs to flow seamlessly in and out of the radiator.

Cost

If you are working on a shoe string budget, price becomes a determining factor. Radiators come at all different price points. That doesn’t mean you should go out and buy the most expensive you can find for your Chrysler. It is possible to get a decent radiator with the features you want at an average price.

Buying a radiator for your car can be a challenging experience with so many factors and specifications to consider.
